Interpreter ServicesDoes your medical office accept Medicaid coupons?Do you have language difficulties when speaking with your clients? If you do, Interpreter Services may be able to help. EligibilityIf you and your client have difficulty understanding each other's language, you may be eligible for interpreter services at no cost to you. These services are available to medical providers who deliver Medicaid covered services to individuals with a current Medicaid coupon. If you and your client qualify, we will provide a DSHS certified or authorized interpreter for their medical appointment. All it takes to get started is a phone call to request program information and necessary forms. HistoryThe Civil Rights Act of 1964 requires that all medical providers who receive federal funds ensure equal access to medical care for their patients. This includes providing interpreters, when needed. Washington State recognized the burden this placed on medical providers so decided to help by paying for interpreters for Medicaid covered services. Interpreter Services Brokerages were developed to oversee and coordinate these services. We arrange for well-trained, professional interpreters in an efficient, cost effective manner. ISB Guidelines
Scheduling an InterpreterTo allow us time to schedule an interpreter, we request 3 working days advance notice for non-urgent appointments. We will confirm your request within 2 working days of receipt. Some confirmations may take longer depending on language required and interpreter availability. Our office is open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. For urgent appointments we request 2 - 4 business hours advance notice. Please note that medical urgency must be determined and documented by a licensed medical professional. Interpreters are assigned on an "as available" basis so not all appointments may be able to be filled. For requests with less than 2 hours advance notice, you may need to arrange and pay for interpreter services on your own. Information to have ready when you call
